Life among the Units - by Rick Stansberger

Life among the Units
They call us UNITS,
not kids,
students, or people,
Collin said
one day at lunch.
It’s true, said Gary
I heard ‘em talking
in the office.
Well they can suck MY unit
said Vic
grabbing the appropriate place.
When Vic made a joke
laughing was kind of required.
But they would have
anyway.

Yes, great to have you on board Rick.
However, I was recently disappointed by the discovery that "suck my unit" is not a Stansberger original! Damn!
Still, neat little poem, I like the contrast between Vic's gesture and the mannered description.

Much enjoyed, Rick, and great to have you here. Am still very much enjoying trelnitz.

Science fictiony but real. Hi Rick. I enjoyed this poem and your tenured voice, has found its seat in this one--not that it is just sitting around but it is at ease in this poem, the message and the how of the language.
Thanks, all! It's good to be here. Brian, the use of "unit" for "student" isn't original either. I wish it were. Science-fictiony, Jill. . . you caught one of my passions. I'll do my best not to cannonball, Silent.
Rick, especially like the way the title makes the last S necessary, which at first, I thought was not. Unit(s) indeed.

I remember when we were just "resources".
Really enjoyed this.
I find myself wanting to edit out "laughed" in the last line.
Think you're right, Shari-Lyn.

Nice to read ya here :)
Thanks, Erika!
