Mine by A.E. Plastic

mine

she’d never be

though it did seem

on the cards

just then

strolling past

the fusty hotels

and the blacked-out

betting shops

on Merchant’s Quay

maybe she

was distracted

by the tumbling

of the gypsy kids

in the carpark

or perhaps

(is this vanity

or its last toehold?)

she was

dreaming up

new ways

of goring me

the unheralded

change

of perfume

a run

of unfamiliar

phrasings:

so many ways

to skin a cat

whereas only one

to split an atom.

Like this you think it's going to be intimate and then it isn't, they sort of shrug each other off.

Wow! Like this a lot. First 2 stanzas very powerful, slightly crazy. The irregular end rhymes work very well. S3 hit me differently. Perhaps because the rhymes gone, the perspective shifts way out and the language is muh more abstract, I couldn't make the link.

Would you consider dropping S3 and letting S1 & 2 shine?
