Notes for the Transatlantic Express

The Transatlantic Express

Our men are underground

funneling the sea.

They eat micro-breakfasts

with freeze-dried coffee

and carry girders downwards.

Plankton & co.,

the detective squad,

investigate below,

Mr Squid’s probing net

of arms signing

the structure’s body–

& tired men bind

the curved steel planks,

arching to arch,

as it were.

(work started middle March;

we didn’t know the dangers).

A slim girl

brings tea & oranges;

‘slurp,hrm: I’d furl

around that, boy!’

Donated by the Japanese,

she bows out of each hollow car,

all thank yous and please.
