It is a security design feature of the web platform, that only Editors can "move" posts which have already been "published".    Members are, however, able to move "drafts".

The work around for those members at our site who wish to organise/move their own material between journals isn't exactly pretty, but it is do-able.

Unpublish the post into a draft, then move it, then republish it.

First select "modify" for the post in question, then uncheck the box over at the top rightish which says "published".  Then "save and close".  The post is now a "DRAFT", (this should now appear in the post title).

So now you  select "organise" for the draft post, and move it to the journal you want it to appear in.  Be careful to choose the correct target journal. Save and close. Please observe:  moving a post to a different journal at the site triggers a change in the URL for that post, so you may get a nasty "Error 404 page not found" type of message, because the old URL you were just on, no longer exists.  Do not be alarmed.  Your post is alive and well in whatever journal you moved it to.

Navigate to the journal where you moved the post to, and it should be there as a draft. Drafts are not visible to the public, even if they are in a publicly visible journal, such as a portfolio.   Select "modify" and re-check the "published" box. Save and close.

Alternatively, an Editor can move published posts for members.
