Apart - by A.E. Plastic

The misfortunes of voyagers:
we know all about those,
don’t we?
Bushwhackers, troglodytes,
cut-purses and cozeners,
all lie in wait.
But don’t expect our Penelope
to kick her heels at home;
there’s visits
to the sleek-haired dentist,
the school run,
bridge classes for the neophyte,
hazy village fetes
and her tricked out
in a veil of aloofness
edged with misgiving.
